And once again! First Cold Pressed Extra-Virgin Olive Oil tasting.

On January 11th Janette Wesley and Renato Vicario will be coming back to the Market.  And, will be bring their First Cold Pressed Extra-Virgin Olive Oil for tasting.  I took this from Janette's flier about their wonderful olive oil (personally I can't wait for this one!)-
"The ancient people aptly named the area “Bacialla”, after the name of the stream dedicated to Bacchus, god of  wine and plenty, as the land is full of life and vigor hosting rare fruit trees, wine grapes and olive trees. Over 280 trees of six different olive oil producing varietals dot the hillside on the farmland of Sant’Andrea a Bacialla, producing an oil incredibly flavorful and rich in the taste of the fruits, with an extremely low acidity. Hand picked by the Wesley and Vicario family, and nurtured only by nature, the olive oil contains no chemical fertilizers, pesticides, nor herbicides, and is watered only by rain.

In early November, the land is full of chatter and excitement as many people harvest their olives, and place their appointment with their favorite mill to process the oil.

Nets are spread under the trees, and the harvesting begins on a clear day absent of fog or mist, as moisture would damage the olives during harvest time. The hand-picked olives, some green and some black, are never allowed direct contact with the ground to keep them from any contamination.  Leaves and twigs are re-moved, then the olives are carefully stored in containers until the milling appointment, generally within 1-2 days of the harvest."

The property of Villa Sant'Andrea, carefully attended by Tuscan hands, generously affords a majestic view over the Valdichiana.  With over 8 acres of land, the gardens are planted in over 200 olive trees, vineyards, many varieties of fruit trees, a vegetable garden, and aromatic herbs and flowers, all treated organically.  The bountiful vegetables and fruits are yours to enjoy in season.

So mark your calender to come out to the Market!
