Well summer is here and it is rather warm. But that doesn't mean we can stop working. We still have cows that have to have fresh grass, pigs that need to be checked on, and hives to look at. And, of course there are always fences that need to be worked on. We have a big "honey do list". And we have been blessed by having some good rains this summer.
We have started on building some new fences for where the pigs and goats are. It's interesting that we always say "lets make sure we do fence work in the Fall/Winter" but yet end up doing it in the summer. Our yearling calves are doing well. We put them on our best summer pasture. Some of our brood cows are getting ready for fall calving and the rest will be calving in the spring. The pigs will be farrowing out new litters late this summer. Our weened pigs are growing and being somewhat mischievous as they will (I'm glad we have understanding neighbors). So be sure to come by and ask about how the farm is run (that way we can take a break).
