| In January, 2017, we started rotating our pigs through the woods. This provides them with roots to munch on as well as the latest crop of acorns, black walnuts, and hickory nuts to supplement their feed. Through rotation, the woodlots are given a generous rest period after they are lightly "tilled" by the pigs through their rooting behavior. This disturbance and rest allows for prime growing conditions for browse and other forage in the late winter and spring months. If you're interested in purchasing any of our pigs for a BBQ or breeding stock, check out our Craigslist ad. We have purebred Tamworth and Tamworth X Gloucestershire Old Spot crosses right now, with Purebred Old Spot piglets available in mid-May! If you're interested in our Pastured Pork or Grassfed Beef, visit our store at 110 Walker Rd. Anderson, SC 29621 during our winter hours (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 2-5). |
